This new
proposed facility will include a mine portal , waste dump, topsoil storage area,
and support buildings (see Exhibit C #1 for detail ) .
Due to the nature of this conversion (i .e. from a limited impact to a
regular operation) , Cotter Corporation is submitting detailed information for
Exhibits A-I , L, 0, and P. However, since the format of the soils information
provided by the Norwood office of the Soil Conservation Service includes the
climatic conditions and vegetative cover in the area, these two exhibits are
included together as Exhibit I .
In keeping with Rule 1.10.4 (2) (a) , Cotter Corporation has delineated (on
a map marked Exhibit C #3) the total affected acreage of the existing Ike No. 1
mine. In response to (2) (b) of the above rule, on April 26, 1990, Cotter Cor-
poration commenced final reclamation on the existing waste dump, mine building
area, ore pad and the topsoil storage area. The mine portal and ventilation
bore hole will be left intact for possible future use. Your office will be
informed when this reclamation has been completed.
If you require additional information or have any questions regarding this
application, please contact Mr. Don Little of our Lakewood office or me at the
Nucla office.
Sincerely,
z /zpk
W.
