~-%- ~ ~ ~~ ~ RECEIVED
' ~ MAY 0 3 2005
Division of Minerals 8 Geolo9Y
ENERGY COMPANY
P.O. BOX 46] GOLDEN, COLORADO 80404
April 29, 2005
Mr. Tom Kaldenbach
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Technical Revision No 36
Change Approved Post-Mining Land Use -Partial
Dear Mr. Kaldenbach:
VIA FAX & MAIL
The submission of this Technical Revision follows notice received by Coors Energy Company
(CEC) from Patina Oil and Gas Corporation (Patina), as the owner of oil and gas interests beneath
the Keenesburg Mine site (Section 36). Patina indicates that they intend to drill and complete two
wells within the Permit area, one in the near future and the other in approximately one year. Both
of the sites are located within the Permit area with one to be situated on ground that has been
determined to have achieved the "Phase II bond release" stage.
The long-term use for these land parcels (well sites and access corridors), once wells are
completed, can no longer be considered "rangeland". Therefore, CEC asks for the Division's
concurrence, by way of approval of this Technical Revision, in a revised post-mining use
designation, that of"industrial".
We aze enclosing copies of the documentation received from Patina demonstrating their control
of the oil and gas interests under the lands, a map identifying the anticipated well site locations
and means of access, and a proposed notice for publication. The notice will be placed in the local
newspaper as soon as we receive concurrence from CDMG as to format and content. Copies of
the Technical Revision application will be delivered to the Keenesburg Town Hall and to the
Weld County Clerk and Recorder's office for "public review" once approval is received and as
soon as the notice is placed.
CEC believes that the documentation submitted is complete and sufficient for the processing of
this Technical Revision No.36. However, should you have questions, please contact me at 303
277-3455.
Sinc yP
Donald W. MacDonald
Manager, Energy Services
