~ III IIIIIIIIIIIII III ~
BATTLE MOUNTAIN GOLD COMPANY
October 21, 1993 ~E(-~~IVFi:
Mr. Clint Strachen ~fOV 01 1993
Water, Waste and Land, Inc. nel~ouNwN
2629 Redwing Road, Suite 200 piv~~~;;, D°Ohp'~
~ I •ud C .: ~ UCI:iUyf
Fort Collins, Colorado 80526
RE: BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC. 1BMRI), SAN LU]'S MINE,
TAILINGS DISPOSAL AREA EXPANSION
Dear Clint,
As we discussed in our telephone conversation of Cctober
18, 1993, we are working diligently to prepare a I>roposed
contract for your third party oversight of the San Luis Mine
tailings disposal area, Phase 2, Raise I construction.
However, as you know time is of the essence and review of the
contract by all parties may not be completed for another week
or so. As we discussed in our telephone conversation, Battle
Mountain Resources, Inc. is authorizing Water, Waste and Land
to begin work on Task 1 of your october 18, 1993 F~roposal
immediately. We believe that the review of documents and
perhaps an initial field visit can occur over the next week
while we are finalizing the contract. BMRI is willing to
assume the limited risk associated with starting work without
finalization of the contract and will agree to pay time and
materials for this work as invoiced from Water Waste anti Land.
Dr. Jim Pendleton has indicated that he will be visiting
the site the afternoon of October 26, 1993 and that may be a
good time for Water, Waste and Land to accompany him on the
site visit to familiarize you with the site. We are extremely
concerned that we get any construction issues quickly resolved
so that the embankment raise construction can be completed
before winter weather conditions prevent completion. Please
let the Division of Minerals and Geology know if you have any
other commitments which could prevent a rapid response on this
matter.
Sincerely,
L c~~//~lll~/ ~ .:ri.~c'uzt~U
Anne C.
