Walker, P. E.
Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: North Thompson Creek Mines
Permit Renewal Application
Permit No-C-ii-025
Dear Mr. Walker:
RECEIVED
APR 212003
pivision of Minerals and Geolo9Y
The DMG's letter dated April 10, 2003 transmitted its technical adequacy review for the referenced
permit renewal. Enclosed are amended pages 3 and 4 of the permit renewal application form with
the requested changes.
Item 10: Permitted - I used Drawing No. D-4-1 to calculate the permitted area to be undermined
in the 5 year mining plan. To this figure, 129 acres were added for the permitted disturbed area.
Then 9.9 acres of disturbed area were deducted because it overlies the 5 year mine plan area.
Item 10 Actual - I used the actual mining performed through permanent cessation with adjustments
for angle of draw to calculate the area undermined. Actual disturbance was utilized to calculate
the area disturbed from surface activities outside of the undermined area. Approximately 8.9 acres
of surface disturbance overly the mined area.
With regard to the exact number of surface acres affected in the permit area at the time of
permanent cessation, I offer the following tabulation for your consideration.
1, Area affected by mining including angle of draw ........................ . . 695.2
2. Current disturbed area ............................................... 65.2
3. Disturbed area which overlies 1 ........................................ -8.9
4. Disturbed area at loadout which has been released from permit ............... 22.0
Total ........................................................... 773.5
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
:l.
