Rowe <br />Environmental Protection Specialist <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Re: Lafarge West Inc., M & G Pit (Permit No. M-1986-079) (CHS #48083) <br />Dear Mr. Rowe: <br />Thank you for your correspondence dated January 16, 2007 (received by our office on January 18) <br />concerning an amendment application to the permit listed above. <br />I[ is our opinion that the proposed amendment to the reclamation plan will have no effect on cultural <br />resources since it concerns filling in a pond and will not incorporate new lands into the permit area, will <br />not involve any new ground disturbance other than to a small previously-disturbed area, and will not <br />otherwise alter previously approved permit conditions. <br />If archaeological resources are discovered during project activities, work must be interrupted until the <br />resources have been evaluated in terms of the National Register of Historic. Places eligibility criteria (36 <br />CFR 60.4) in consultation with our office. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
