As part of that annual report, a section
dealing with wildlife (deer and elk) monitoring was submitted. Aerial surveys
and pellet group sampling techniques, to determine deer and elk numbers before
and during mining and reclamation activities, have been conducted by Trapper
Hine since 1973. The sampling results are provided in the attached wildlife
monitoring report. Based on the duration and results of this study, Trapper
has proposed to discontinue all deer and elk monitoring effective in 1990.
I ask that you review these results and provide any comments to David Berry
(CMLRD) and me. Your immediate review and response would be appreciated. I
will also submit a copy of this correspondence to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service for their review.
Sincerely,
~L~
~~~~ ~
William Agnew
Sr. Environmental Engineer
WA/jb
[EQ\DOWO1]
Enclosure
c: J.H.
B.D.
U.S.
D.A.
R.L.
file
Mattern
Nicholson
Fishy Wildlife Service
Berry, CM
Fanyo
P.O.
