Since the mine has been reclaimed and it is
presently in temporary cessation, we have identified only three concerns
as follows:
Please update pages in the compliance section of the permit
application package so that the permit complies with recently
changed Rule 2.03.4.
Please submit a technical revision that provides for separate
primary and emergency spillways for the explosive storage
area, sanitary landfill, maintenance shop and two loadout
ponds. From the drawings in the permit document, it appears
that all these ponds have culvert outlets which act as
combined primary and emergency spillways. I have enclosed
a copy of the May 15, 1991 memo which states the D1vlsion's
policy regarding combination spillways (Rule 4.05.6(3)(d)
and (e). Please also provide two copies of Exhibit U which
gives the designs for sediment pond HG-8.
