RE: Objection Letters, United/Norwood Pit Conversion Application,
File No. M-88-037
Dear Mr. McGehee:
Please find enclosed all letters of objection to your conversion application, received
by the Division to date. Because timely objections have been received, consideration
of your application will be before the Mined Land Reclamation Board at their
August 21-22 meeting unless the review period is extended by United Companies,
the Division. or the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
Please review the letters carefully and attempt to resolve the issues with the
individual objector/s. For those issues that are within the authority of the Division and
Mined Land Reclamation Board to consider regarding your application, provide your
responses to the Division, identifying the objector and issue.
The objection letter from Abby Altshuler (Represented by Bendelow & Darling, P.C.)
was received after the close of the public comment period. You should address her
reasons for objecting to your application, as well. The Division will consider them
while reviewing your application, since she will have the opportunity to present her
issues at an informal conference, at which time she may be admitted as a party to
the hearing process.
