LuchheaA <br />Eaecwrvr Director <br />btichael R Long <br />Division Dvttlpr <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 21, 1997, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete far the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted <br />by Basin Resoutt:es, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br />This revision proposes to retain the remaining facilities, an office trailer, pumphouse, and two river intake ponds, <br />to benefit the post-mining land use. It also proposes to transfer exploration activities within the permit area to <br />existing Notices of Intent to facilitate bond release. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br />In all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas Counry Courthouse, <br />200 E First St Rm 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact [he Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments <br />be submitted within fifteen (l5) days of this letter.
