Loy hhead <br />E.ecuuvr Dveaor <br />Muhael B Long <br />Divismn Director <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accodance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December l6, 1998, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete for [he purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of tiling. Due to an oversight on my part, this letter was not mailed to you on <br />December 17, 1998. Please be advised that your right to comment remains. <br />Approval of this technical revision would allow a change in the mine plan for the BowidJo. 2 Mirre. The change <br />would permit longwall mining and an increase in production from 2 million tons per year to 5 million tors per <br />year. The proposed mining change would still be in the current perntit boundary and still involve only private <br />surface and fee coal. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Pottions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is availablefor public inspection a[ [he Delta County Courthouse, 5th <br />& Palmer, Della, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written <br />comments, contact the Division of Ivlinerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. in order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (l5) days of this letter.
