No. 2 Mine, C-80-002
Dear Mr. Weaver:
ti~ 4
mss.
~~~
. ~r~
Roy Romer
Governor
Michael B. Long
Drvrsmn DireUOr
On September 22, 1993 the Mined Land Reclamation Board voted to continue the formal
public hearing for the Division's proposed bond increase until the December 15th and 16th
Board hearing. The Board set a deadline of December 1st for the O.C. No. 2 mine either
to reduce the reclamation liability or until December 15th to increase the bond amount.
During the meeting you pointed out several items in the reclamation liability estimate that
do not require a reclamation bond such as the two culverts and the portal shed roof. The
Division will remove these items from the cost estimate. The Division will work with you to
ensure that the reclamtion cost estimate is as accurate as possible. The Board expressed
concerns that the mine site be adequately posted and that the hazards to the public be
minimized as much as possible.
If you have any questions please call me.
Sincerelyh
' ~%''
Randall P.
