Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Canany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed Trapper Mining Inc.'s Third Quarter 2007 Sediment Pond Inspection reports.
Trapper Mining Inc.'s third quarter 2007 sediment pond reports were received by the Division on October
11, 2007. Timely submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.9(17). Sediment pond
inspections were conducted by TMI on September 25t ,September 27th, and September 28th, 2007.
Three ponds were reported dischazging at the NPDES point at the time they were inspected. These ponds
include Middle Flume No. 3 Pond, East Pyeatt No. 3, and East Middle Flume No. 1. Maintenance
identified during the quarterly inspection were primarily for resetting of sediment markers or installation of
identification signs. Oak Gulch Pond No. 1, and East Pyeatt No. 1 require sediment cleanout from the
pond. TMI reports that sediment cleaning is scheduled for October 2007. The Mine had experienced
heavy rain storms during the month f September. None of the maintenance items identified in the report
indicated embankment or pond function to be compromised.
Sincei~ly, _
Janet Bi s
viro ntal Protection Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/Sediment Pond Inspection/2007/3rd q 2007.doc
Cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
