Box 591 <br />Somerset, Colorado 81434 <br />Re: Final Review of MCC Responses to Division Review of 1996 Annual Hydrology <br />Report; West Elk Mine; Permit No. C-80-007 <br />Deaz Ms. Johnston: <br />The Division has reviewed Mountain Coal Company's second round of responses to the <br />Division's review of the 1996 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) for the West Elk Mine. The <br />Division has the following remaining comments regazding the 1996 AHR, however; no further <br />responses aze required from MCC. <br />2. Response accepted. <br />3. No further response is required at this time. <br />5. Response accepted. <br />6. Response accepted. <br />8. No further response is necessary. As discussed in our March 19, 1998 meeting (1996 <br />AHR discussion), the Division requires a technical revision to the permit addressing the <br />need for replacement of wells that may not provide reliable information and/or may be <br />candidates for elimination from the program. This technical revision should be submitted <br />to the Division as soon as possible <br />11. No further response is necessary. See Division response to item number 8 above. <br />
