Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed Trapper Mining Int.'s First Quarter 2003 Sediment Pond Inspection reports.
TMI's second quarter 2003 sediment pond reports were received by the Division, on June 26, 2003.
Timely submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.9(17). Sediment pond inspections
were conducted by TMI between May 30, 2003 to June 24, 2003
Sediment levels for many of the ponds were reported. No Name #2 is reported as containing 50%
sediment. 60% sediment indicates the pond needs sediment cleanout. TMI should evaluate this pond
and consider cleanout during favorable weather. Maintenance is still needed on East Pyeatt No. 3 pond
to correct steepening of the embankment inslope. Numerous sediment mazkers were noted as not
located. TMI indicates the sediment level markers will be replaced in the appropriate ponds. No serious
structural concerns were identified by the operator for any of the ponds. TMI needs to continue to
attend to the maintenance items identified during the second quarter 2003 sediment pond inspection.
Thank you for the timely submittal of these reports.
Janet 'nns __
Enviro en Protecti n Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/Sediment Pond Inspection/2003 second q.doc
Cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
