U.S. 6 and X40 .~ ., , <br />Dear Mr. Case: <br />We wish to confirm the details of a visit made ty Messrs. <br />~ , Gary Polvi of the Environmental Protection Agency and Richard Bowman ~ <br />of Colorado Department of Health, Water Quality Control Division, i:o <br />your aggregate mining operation located approximately three (3) miles ~~. <br />south of the city center in Golden, Colorado. This visit was made <br />on ilovember 7, 1973, at which time Messrs. Polvi and Bowman met with q~,v '•.W <br />~• ~. you to discuss the question of whether an NPDES wastewater discharge ~'~" <br />peefait is requircd for this operation. I~•' .. <br />« A tour of this aggregate mining operation by the above parties: <br />disclosed that there are presently no process generated wastewater:. ~~` <br />enAnating from the facility. Storm runoff and spring thaw waters ~~ <br />' which enter the mining site are diverted through a french drain tY{~e .. <br />of runoff control system to control process contamination. -..,.. <br />Based on the findings of Messrs. Polvi and Bowman, the ~' <br />Environmental Protection Agency believes that this aggregate minim{ <br />operation presently complies with all Federal and State water ;,~. <br />pollution control requirements. Since there is presently no direct <br />•' discharge of process wastewater or contaminated runoff from the site, ; <br />and to long as the operating conditions at the faci 1 i ty r•emai n %;,, '~.,~; <br />unchanged, a permit to discharge liquid effluents is not required. • <br />,a. <br />, ,+ '. i <br />.. <br />l <br />~ { ~ i <br />,.
