Lochhead
Erecwive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Direc tar
Thank you for your 9/16/96 correspondence, regarding the above referenced application.
The proposed mining operation is located approximately 4 miles NE of Palisade, in
portions of the SW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 35, T10S, R98W, 6th PM, Mesa
County. DMG is reviewing the application submitted by Mr. Rudolph Fontanari.
Your 9/16/96 letter stated that Ute Water Conservancy District did not object to the
proposed mining operation but stated two concerns relating to ground shock resulting
from blasting, and possible water line damage from equipment traffic. Your letter also
stated a request for "Operation Plan".
Please find enclosed, 10 pages of maps and text, copied from Mr. Fontanari's application.
The enclosed information provides specific description of the proposed operation. Vicinity
Map shows the location of the permit area and designated haul route. Mining Plan states
that excavation will be conducted with conventional equipment, explosives will not be
utilized. Heavy equipment and haul truck traffic is to be limited to the existing haul road,
which extends north from the permit area to I-70.
Locations of the water lines, identified in your 9/16/96 letter, are not depicted on the
application maps. Please clarify the locations of the referenced water lines.
Please contact me at the DMG Durango office, 484 Turner Drive, Building F, Suite 101,
Durango, CO 81301, phone (970) 247-5193, if I can be of greater service.
Since~r/e~ly,
~uracf J~1' • Lr.~-
Wallace H.
