DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: COTTER CORPORATION - JD-9 MINE, MONTROSE COUNTY, APPLICATION FOR
MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for an under-
ground uranium mine near Naturita. The applicant states in Exhibit G that,
"if water is encountered prior to the bottoming of the decline, it will be
diverted to a sump where it can be reused in the drilling." According to
Colorado Statute, the applicant must obtain a water right for any water,
ground water or surface water, put to beneficial use. We cannot recommend
approval of this application until additional information concerning the
applicant's water rights has been rovided.
J ris A.
