~ ; • <br />' III IIIIIIIIIVIII III <br />999 <br />Dave and Ginger Slatten <br />2412 North Taft Hill Road <br />Fort Collins, CO 80524 <br />April 5, 1999 <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br /> <br />~EG~\v~v <br />91g99 <br />PQR`Mi~ryi5&Gepio9y <br />~~~~5~ <br />RE: STEGNER FARM SAND AND GRAVEL MINE <br />REGULAR (112) CONSTRUCTIO1d MATERIALS PERMIT <br />Ladies and Gentlemen: <br />We aze writing to object to the above-referenced application for the following <br />reasons: <br />(a) Increase in traffic on an already heavily-traveled road; <br />(b) Increase in noise due to the trucks and extraction equipment to be used; <br />(c) Decrease in property values becau;>e of a gravel pit across the road; <br />(d) Decrease in water tables; <br />(e) Increase in air pollution due to the mining; and <br />(f) We already have one big gravel operation going on in the neighborhood, <br />we certainly do not need another. <br />We have aUeady been through one of these special reviews in approximately 1988 <br />when Western Mobile wanted to mine the Seaworth property across the road from us. <br />The neighbors banded together in opposition and. after many months of hearings and <br />many dollars expended in experts and attorney's fees, we were successful in stopping the <br />mining.
