[Je
operate with a gravel purchase agreement under which the County
pays the land owner a royalty on a per ton extracted basis.
None of our pit operations involve crushing, or washing of the
material, it is generally used as pit run material on the roads.
All of our pits are situated in the high plains area and share
similar soil and range grass situations. A11 are dry pits.
Because of the great area and thousands of miles of roads to
maintain it is necessary to have strategically located gravel
sources. We have 14 pits to serve 1,300 square miles.
We normally operate only two pits at any one time because of the
limitation of manpower and equipment and use each pit on a need
basis. Some pits may be used only once a year, others once
every two or three months.
While the enclosed photos are not of the best quality, I think
you can see that our pit operations are very responsible from tl7e
environmental stand point.
If you will please advise of any additional documentation required
I will make every effort to provide it.
I appreciate your assistance with the filing of this application
to date.
Sincerely
a cG(_k~~fV//L/a/e/V,_CU/h
fight-Of-Way Engineer
JV/Jg
(-
~.~~.
