In
addition our problems with the well's location were discussed.
These problems are as-follows:
(1) The location of the new warehouse and subsequent
relocation of the access road to the portal bench has put the
well in a high traffic area. Because of it's location the
plastic pipe protruding from•the well has been destroyed by
vehicular traffic on numerous occasions. The pipe then has to be
repaired and capped for monitoring purposes as well as to
preclude ground water from running into the well.
(2I When the new warehouse was built the oil storage area
was moved to a point only fifteen feet from alluvial well #2.
This only adds to the traffic around the well. We are also
concerned with the validity of the sampling data given this
location.
As I am sure you are aware, we are operating on a very small area
at the Bear Number Three Mine. Therefore we da not beleive that
it is feasible to relocate this well to another area. In
addition the monthly sampling done for the past two years has
shown no problems that we are aware of.
For these reasons, the Bear Caal Company respectfully requests a
minor revision to our mining permit which would allow us to
discontinue monitoring well #2 and remove it.
Sincerely,
BEA COAL COMPANY, INC.
Cra' N. pri er
Office Manager
