Dept. of Natural ke;ources <br />Please find enclosed a copy of an application to drill three alluvial water <br />monitoring wells on U.S. Forest Service land south of the Mt. Gunnison Five- <br />Year Permit area. Stipulations to the Mt. Gunnison Permits-to-Mine issued by <br />the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division and the Federal Office of Surface <br />Mining require that West Elk Coal Company install monitoring wells in, conduct <br />pumping tests on, and monitor water levels and water quality in the alluvium <br />of Dry Fork, lick Creek, South Prong, and Horse Creek one .year prior to mining <br />within the watersheds of these streams.
