• • III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
•
August 5, 1981
Mr. Daniel J. Llesueld
Colorado Rose Red Granite Corp.
1241 Quivos Street
Denver, Colsrado 80228
RE: Status of Colorado Red Rose Granite Pit application
Our file f78-332
Dear Mr. Llesveld:
The above cited operation was inspected on June 29, 1981, and a copy of
py Inspection report is enclosed for your files.
To date no permit has been issued for this site. However, due to the
• Division's failure to act within the time period specified to the law,
a permit will be Issued for this operation upon presentation of $5000
surety by the appllcanC. This surety amount Is the maximum allowed
by law.
1 realize that in your application you requested that the reclamation
cost be waived. If you 5'tlll believe that the surety should be lower
you must again request this in writing along with a detailed cost break
down add a detail up to date reclamation plan.
The major reclamation problem on the site seems to be the large amount
of waste granite which oovsrs the slope below the quarry. It is not
clear from the application If this waste is to remain after mining is
complete or If It will be processed. It is also not clear how much
lower the quarry floor will be after mining is complete. If you would
address these itsns It would bs appreciated.
1 must emphasize that no permit has been Issued for this site and you
are operating Illegally. Therefore It would be in your best Interest
to respond to this letter a~ soon as possible and to voluntarily cease
mining operations until a permit is Issued.
If you have any questions/comments please do not hesitate to conaact ms.
Sincerely,
•
Jay Lucas
Reclamation Specialist
JL:ys
