C~
• III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
TR9PP~R MINING INC. 999
CERTIFIED P577401591
April 19, 1
.. ~.t 7' (wg T./
Mr. Gregg Squire
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Gregg:
fll'~fl ~; i~ ln~i~0
Subject: Quarterly sediment pond inspections at Trapper Mine.
Section 4.8.1.4 of Trapper's mining and reclamation permit requires quarterly
inspection records of sediment control ponds at Trapper be forwarded to the Divi-
sion within 30 days of the end of the quarter. The records for the first
quarter, 1988, are enclosed.
As shown, no major problems were observed. At No Name #5, the dam face received
some erosion when a diversion ditch controlling runoff from an adjacent wheat-
field broke. Temporary repairs have been made. The erosion does not effect the
integrity of the sediment pond and will be smoothed and seeded this summer.
West Buzzard Pond No. 3 dam face also received some minor erosion but does not
affect the structural integrity of the pond. In addition, the parshall flume and
spillway outfall of West Buzzard No. 3 received some erosion damage during the
Spring snowmelt. However, the functioning of the pond and spillway are not
affected. Minor Revision MR-68 has been submitted to correct this problem.
The new ponds built in 1987 have not yet established a vegetation cover from the
fall seeding, but are not showing any erosion problems. If a good cover is not
established by fall, the structures viii be seeded again.
Gregg, please contact me if you have any questions or require further information
concerning this report. If you feel these quarterly reports need to be included
in our permit, please let me know. A minor revision will be submitted, placing
these reports in Appendix Q.
Best regards,
H.
