f III~~~~IIIII~~IIIII ~ ~'7~~',, r. :, ~ c~~~ i'l~i',_
3~~s •~ w,y V J~~ RECEIVED
Jar~uary 1984 ~'~Z~ d
Supplemental Information to NII.RB File No.78-305 from SAN 91984
Formaz & Son, Inc. Gunnison, Colorado. MINED LANDRECLAMATIDND141SIDN
Colo. Dept. of Natural Resources
Exhibit A - Legal Description
The area to be permitted is 9.9 acres in the NW% of the
NE4 of Section 24-T49N-R2W of NMPM, in Gunnison County,
Colorado, as shown on the maps identified as Exhibits
C-1 and C-2. The designdted area begins approximately
300 "west and 600' south of the respective east and north
boundaries of the 40 acre tract as detailed in the Plot
Map, Exhibit C-3.
Exhibit B - Minim Plan
Access to the area is from U.S. Highway 50, five miles
west of the town of Gunnison. The. entrance is coritroled
by a locked gate used by both the operator and the federal
government. Thus, only a small portion of the haul road
( 0,14 acres ) is used solely by the mine operator.
The east approach to the mining area is confined by gran-
ite walls to the left and right. The entrance to the
area is about 100' wide and broadens out into a mined-out
bench t]~at is approximately 288' wide and 240' deep (about
1.6 acres). The first bench is used for the crusher oper-
ation, material stockpiles, and vehicle turn-around. The
present mining face is located on a 2nd bench which is
about 15' above tl~e 1st: It is the operators intention
to proceed with mining in a westerly direction up the
slope in a series of 15 - ZO' benches. Due to the steep-
ness of the slope, the 2nd bench may be too narrow to
accomodate the crusher. Therefore, material will be moved
by a conveyor system doM~ to the 1st bench until adequate
space is created on the 3rd bench. ~
The overb~~rden
approaches the
the overburden
of the exposed
the permitted
twice as wide
~ ,, ". .
is estimated to be 30' deep as the mining ;~!--"r.

hilltop in the 3rd phase. Of necessit}~, r,--; _ ~ i
has been stockpiled to the left. and right
working face. Consequently, the width of
area adjacent to the 3rd bench is aimost
as the working face of the mine.
The present disturbed area encompasses 2,4 acres of the
proposed 9.9 acre site. The remainder of the acreage is
found in an almost square area identified on the Plot Map
as phases 4 a1~d 5. The permitted boundaries will widen
from 300' in phase 3, to 575' on the hilltop at a point
that is 615' from the west boundary of the 40 acre tract.
