The
well used for the house was over 400 feet deep, but 1 am unsure of
the permit number, since there was a mix up in a lot of the records
of wells on my property. The age of the wells was unknown.
Bath wells were used successfully until 1987, when the Zigan Gravel
Pit opened and began operating just behind my property. A short
time later we started having trouble getting water out of the
shallow well, because of the fact that the water table had dropped.
Shortly thereafter, the well dried up.
In February, 1988 problems developed with the deep well which was
used for the house. We started having periods when there was no
water and in May of that year, it was plain to see, that a new
well would have to be drilled. At this time we could get very
little water during a day. The new well, permit number 151960, was
completed in August, 1988.
There were several meetings in Hrighton concerning the issue of
well problems and gravel pits in the area but I could not attend
all of them because of the time of day they were because I had
obligations to my employer, so i am not real sure if anything was
ever decided on this issue.
I hope this information is helpful to the issue. If I can be of
further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Roger Sable
