The mine
bench has experienced two slope failures this spring and they
should be repaired early this fall. The Division notes the
following observations regarding the bench hydrologic monitoring
report.
The bench underdrains continue to remain consistent with previous
flows and field parameters. Flow was noted for the middle
underdrain which has not flowed for quite some time.
The water level in the piezometers continues to show seasonal
variability; however, there is an upward trend in water level for
almost all the piezometers. The Division is curious as to why the
water level in the mine bench has risen since the piezometers began
monitoring the water level. Elevations taken since December 1992
have been higher, which may be due to the increase in precipitation
this past winter. As the Division is currently reviewing MINREC's
plan to repair the bench, this issue will be discussed at that
time.
Thank you for your continued compliance with the terms of the Blue
Ribbon Mine permit.
Si,{~ erely,
/ Y
~~
Christine E.
