Courtright: This letter is to notify you that in order for the above cited applications to be considered adequate for Board presen[ation the following items must be addressed. 1. lde need a statement that, for those pits located in streambeds, no mining or stockpiling will take place in the streambed during streamflow events. 2. Apparently t}ie Hornung Pit (82-189) and the Alleman Pit (82-185) have little or no topsoil. Your reclamation plan for these pits commits to replacing 6 inches of topsoil. Unless you have a definite source for the reclamation topsoil, you may want to con- sider changing the reclamation plan for these pits to state that 0-6 inches of topsoil will be replaced. This will avoid the future problem of replacing 6 inches of topsoil on areas where no topsoil was removed. 3. Beeson Pit: Any streambanks which are disturbed should be graded to a 2:1 or gentler slope. Also an additional grass, such as west- ern wheatgrass, should be planted. 4. Stratton Dump Pit: The proposed seed mixture should be expanded to include Blue grama and western wheatgrass. Assuming [hat we receivethe proof of publication and adequate responses to the above items prior [o September 17th, I will recommend approval of these applica- tions at the September Board meeting. Although you are welcome to attend the Board meeting, your presence will not be neceessary.
