A TSS value of 96 mg/I was measured by ACZ Laboratories Inc. The high
value was associated with an early snow melt and was caused primarily from the snow
melting on pond sideslopes immediately adjacent to the principal spillway outlet and
NPDES measuring device. Due to the premature nature of 1991's runoff, no
settleable solids analysis was performed. I assure you all future TSS analysis taken
during snow runoff periods that may be suspect will be accompanied by appropriate
settleable solids measurements. Additional parameters measured during this runoff
period (1115/91) included: flow: 220 gpm, pH: 8.0, SPCC: 2140, TSS: 1070, and Oil
and Grease: no visible sheen.
Altliorcgh the daily maximum concentration. for TSS was exceeded on 1/15/91, the 30-
day average for the month of January, 1991, was not exceeded. The 30-day average
was 33.0 mg/I (based on four samples).
Laboratory results were received from A<:Z on 2/28/9] and due to my absence were
not reviewed and reported until 3/1/91. As mentioned in our telephone conversation,
I will continue to work with ACZ Laboratories and with Trapper personnel to ensure
timely reporting of all water samples. Additionally Trapper will re-seed (broadcast)
the sideslopes of No Name sedimentation pond SA immediately adjacent to the
principal spillway and NPDES discharge point in an attempt to reduce the potential
for excessive erosion within this area.
P.0.
