Trapper Mine NPDES permit no. CO-0032115
Based on analyses received 5/9/91 and as reported to you by telephone on 5/9/91, Trapper
Mine is submitting anon-compliance notification for TSS exceedance at NPDES discharge
point 008 (Ute Gulch) on 4/8/91 and 010 (Elk Gulch) on 4/2191. TSS values of 106 mg/1
and 390 mg/I were measured at Ute and Elk discharge points, respectively. The settleable
solids analysis at both sites was low at 0.2 m1/I/hr. The high TSS values were associated
with moderately high winds and warm temperatures which resulted in rapid surface
snowmelt (runoff). Due to the low settleable solids and the discharge volumes being asso-
ciated with snowmelt, Trapper continues to be in compliance with the terms and condi-
tions of our discharge permit.
Additional parameters measured at Ute Gulch during this runoff period (4/8/91) included:
Flow: <4.5 gpm
Ph: 8.0
SPCO: 540
TDS: 480 mg/l
Fe (total): 2.6 mg/1
Oil and Grease: no visible sheen
Additional Elk Gulch parameters included:
Flow: <13.5 gpm
Ph: 8.3
SPCO: 550
TDS: 504 mg/1
Fe (Total): 0.14 mg/1
Oil and Grease: no visible sheen
P.0.
