Vernon, M.D
E~xuuve Director
We are in receipt of the above-referenced report and attached letter of
e-xplanation for the two exceedances of setteable solids during the period in
question.
It is unclear to me as to how the discharge exceedances on October 31 and
November 3, 1988 are a result of rlmoff when the precipitation records show no
measurable precipitation for 23 days prior to October 31. You further
indicate that pond cleaning began on October 31. Is it typical that cleaning
be undertaken while the pond is in a discharging mode?
Please respond and clarify your method of operation of the pond during this
period. Your reply is due by no later than February 24, 1989.
Feel free to contact me at 331-4959 if you have any questions regarding this.
Sincerely,
~.K-~~-.i.--7- ~~"l.eJ._t,~
Sandy Marek
Engineering Technician
Permits and Enforcement Section
WATER QUALITY CONTROL DIVISION
Field Su rt Section WQCD s ~'-> - ~° `~' (+ 7-• ~`-h
Tor>,y Waldren, Mined land Reclamation Division ~'` `~"
~r ~; ~ .:; igog
Iv Lr Yr.;:.t `~
~.,:
