Lamm
Governor, State of Colorado
Colorado State Capitol Building
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Dick:
r~~~l\~_!1 L,4~JD fl,"_C!.A f!-, I ION
Co!o. Dec'(, eI P!,h~r~! i?esc:.~rces
Montrose County has received word from C. C. I. that
C. C. Mc Cal 1, as Director of the Mined Land Reclamation Act,
has threatened that all counties in Colorado not in compliance
with his Board's regulations will receive cease and desist or-
ders March 1, 1978.
This Act has caused us more than a little consternation,
but in appreciation for your intervention administratively, on
behalf of the counties, Montrose County has tried to comply with
the regulations as you set them up. We have met with continual
rejections, requests for further information, applications re-
turned to be rewritten, etc., etc. Coupled with this, we un-
fortunately lost our County Engineer in November. Up to this
time, he had handled the program and coped w&th the many red
tape items to the best of his ability.
We will continue our efforts to get our twenty-two gravel
pits in compliance but the March 1, 1978 deadline will be im-
possible to meet.
Just wanted to let you know we are trying.
Sincerely,
Guy L Mock
Chairman, Board of
Montrose County
Commissioners
GLM:jb
cc: C.
