Dttring this quarter, NPDES sites 001, 002, 010 and 013 were active.
Also enclosed are the monthly NOAA weather so+n~+a~es for the reporting period, seep volume data for site
005, and WET test DMR's. No WET tests were performed during the reporting period as no discharges
occurred at those sites requiring WET testing.
Sampling at sites OIO and 013 on October IS resulted in exceedances of TSS and/or Total Iron values. Site OIO
exceeded the 30-day average TSS value. However, the TSS value is based on only one discharge during the
period and is a mathematical violation only. The settleable solid value was not exceeded. Site 013 had
exccedances in the daily MX TSS value, 30 day average TSS value, daily MX Total Iron value and 30~ay aver-
age Total Iron value. Again, the average values ate based on only one event during the reporting period, so arc
mathematical violazians only. The daily maximum values for TSS and Total Fe were exceeded but the settleable
solid value was not.
Trapper claims a storm exemption for these discharges. As shown by the October NOAA weather sttmmary,
precipitation events occurred resulting in these discharges on October 15. This was a unique thundersrorm thaz
affected a restricted portion of the mine area. The office area, where the rainfall data was collected, was on the
edge of the storm and does no[ reflect the full intensity of the event, which was centered in the 013 drainage
area.
KaUty, if you have any questions or require additional information concerning this report, please contact Larry
Hrndetson of my staff.
Sincerely,, ,
-/ i~ %~
~u~ ~~
LWHljb [CDOHVAN12j
Enclosure
c U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Kent Gorham, DMG
File 109.2.7
Forrest V.
