July 28, 2000
Ms. Carla Lenkey
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
Water Quality Control Division -Permits and Enforcement
4300 Cherry Creek Drive South
Denver, CO 80222-1530
RE: PERMIT CO-0027154; JUNE 2000 DMR SUBMITTAL
Dear Ms. Lenkey:
RECEIVED
JUL 31 2000
iiiiiiiiiiiniiiiii
Division of Minerals 8 Geology
Please find enclosed the above referenced discharge monit ring report for the period June 1, 2000 through June 30, 2000.
During the period only ponds A (point 001), B (point 003), D (~oint 005), E (point 006), and H (point 009) discharged to Foidel
Creek. No permit excursions were noted for this period. How ver, O fall 005 did not commence discharging until June 28,
which allowed for only one sample this month.
Quarterly Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) tests were conducted the week of April 24, 2000. Outfalls 005 and 007 passed for
both species, with "Concentrations with Statistically significant Difference in Lethality" reported at >100%. Outiall 001 passed
for C. Dubia, concentration reported at >100%, and tailed for P. Promelas, with the concentration reported at 75%. Copies of
the CDPS W ET Test Report Forms for these tests are included with this submittal. No accelerated testing will be performed at
Outfall 001 as per the letter dated 4/13/98 addressed to Joe Shoemaker (TCC) from Carla Lenkey (Water Quality Control
Division). One note, is that the Outfall 005 had stopped flowing on the third WET test sample, so an alternative sample was
obtained from the pond decant area. Flow did not resume at this site until June 28, which made it impossible to reschedule
the W ET tests prior to the end of the quarter.
The WET tests conducted this quarter required extra visits to these sites, thus producing additional field parameter values
which were calculated into the statistics reported on the DMRs.
Outtalls 001, 005 and 007 are being tested for Hardness in addition to the required parameters, however, as noted below, 007
did not discharge and was omined for this period. A copy of those results is included in this submittal.
Outfalls 002, 004, 007 and 006 did not discharge; and therefore have no chemical or toxicological tests during this period.
Outfall 020 has not been constructed yet; therefore there is no discharge to enable chemical or toxicological testing to date.
Points 010, 016 and 017 have been eliminated from this permit. In order to reduce the amount of paper work, the following
certification will be substituted for the actual DMR forms to cover the outfalls which did not discharge.
I certi/y under penalty of law that I have personally examined and am familiar with the information submitted herein; ano
based on my inquiry of those individuals responsible /or obtaining the information, I believe the submitted in/ormation is
true, accurate, and complete.
