Savage
FROM: Steve Renner
RE: Rills and Gullies at Edna Strip
As you requested at the team meeting of June 23, 1986, I prepared a memo which
described the current status of the P and M Rill and Gully plan for Fred
Banta. This memo has been forwarded to Fred, with a carbon copy to you.
The following comments pertain to your request of June 26, 1986. The minor
revision request to establish a Rill and Gully test plot contained a
commitment for biannual monitoring. This monitoring, which is to be conducted
in the late spring and mid-autumn, will continue until the spring of 1987.
If, at that time, the gullies are stable, no work will be initiated at these
sites. However, if these gullies appear to be Unstable, they will be
stabilized in accordance with the approved plan.
The company did not commit to, nor did the Division require any reporting time
frame.
P and M personnel were informally notified that the Rill and Gully policy,
which is in the approved permit, should be studied very carefully, and be
revised to include specific stabilization procedures. No Rill and Gully
submittal was received with the permit renewal application, therefore,
adequacy comments will be included in our PAR, which is scheduled to be sent
August 1 , 1986.
SR/ddt
1741F
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
