Dear Mr. Mathews:
Rule 2.06.8(3)(a) states that any person who proposes to engage in surface coal mining
operations, may, prior to making an application for a permit, request in writing that the
Board give an informal opinion on whether or not the area of the land to be affected by
such proposed operations is in, adjacent to, or under an alluvial valley floor. Please
consider this letter a request for an informal opinion.
The enclosed Figure 1 shows a resource area boundary which encompasses the land to
be affected by the proposed Redcliff Mines The enclosed Figure 2 is a 4,000 scale drawing
that shows the resource area boundary and adjacent area.
