BOX 550
ROCKY FORD, COLORADO 81067
(303)254-7464
Re Val co, Inc. - Pueblo West Pit - MLR File No. 77-573
Bureau of Reclamation Letter
We appreciate your referring to us the U. 5. Department of
Interior Bureau of Reclamation letter which you received on
February 10, 1978.
We have been in contact with the Bureau and understand the
concerns expressed in the letter. We will take all pre-
cautions to insure that the river is not rechanneled onto
adjacent lands. A review of map Exhibit D-1 will show that
in all cases we have left at least a 50-foot zone between
the river channel and the excavation area.
With respect to the railroad, we have obtained a right-of-way
survey from the Bureau (its general configuration is shown
on map Exhibit D-1). We intend to make sure this property
is not jeopardized. Map Exhibit D-1 reflects that a setback
from the right-of-way of at least 30 feet has been allowed
in all areas.
The mining plan and reclamation plan address the concerns
voiced by Mr. Hall. We believe it is unnecessary and repeti-
tive to add the requested stipulation to the permit. We
therefore ask that this request be denied.
Yours truly,
~ir-+'~ ~ 0.-~
Frank Jobe
Executive Vice President
LAMAR CANON CITY PUEBLO
