Atkinson
Colowyo Coal Company
5731 State Highway 13
Meeker, Colorado 81641
Re: Licensed Water Wells
Change In Ownership/Address
Office of State Engineer
Dear Rich:
~~~~~~~
aPR g 199
Mir
Re.ya~,,~d~^nd
Regarding the water monitor well sites left operational after Consol's recla-
mation activities were completed during October 1992, I have been in contact
with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (CMLRD) and the Office of
the State Engineer to determine the appropriate procedures to be followed to
implement well permit transfer.
The subject sites include a ground water monitor well 84-W (84-D1-02) complet-
ed in bedrock and located in Section 15, T3N, R93W, within the Danforth I
Federal coal lease. Also included are alluvial water monitor wells A-3 and
A-6, located in Sections 11 and 28, respectively, of T3N, R93W.
Through my discussions with CMLRD's Erica Crosby, I was informed that the
Notice of Intent held by Consol, which includes exploration site 84-W, would
not require transfer to Colowyo. Therefore, the CMLRD document entitled
"Request for Transfer of Notice of Intent to Conduct Coai Exploration and
Succession of Exploration Operators" will not require execution by Colowyo and
Consol, as was previously advised. Instead, CMLRD has indicated that site
84-W will be included in Colowyo's reclamation bond required for permit
modifications that are currently in progress.
Since sites A-3 and A-6 were drilled only to the base of valley-fill alluviam
and did not penetrate coal bearing strata, they were not included in any
Notice of Intent filed with CMLRD and were therefore not bonded. It was
indicated 6y CMLRD that sites A-3 and A-6 will also be included in the
reclamation bond requested for the aforementioned permit modifications.
It will be necessary however, for Colowyo to execute the attached forms from
the Office of the State Engineer entitled "Change of Ownership/Address". This
will allow the State Engineer to update the well permit file numbers for wells
84-W, A-3 and A-6 to reflect the new well owner, Colowyo. Upon execution,
please return the forms to my attention, whereby I will file them with the
State Engineer along with the necessary fee.
