This
modification involves adding a new point source to our existing permit. The new point
source will be apre-fabricated sewage treatment plant.
As you are aware, WFC removed the previous sewage treatment plant permitted
under CO-0000906 during construction of the coal washing facility. The New Elk Mine has
been inactive, therefore, we have not needed a treatment facility. WFC will be gearing
up for coal production in the first quarter 1986. It will be necessary to have the new
treatment facility on line by March 1, 1986.
WFC has filed an Application for Construction or Expansion of Domestic
Wastewater Treatment Works. This application is currently being reviewed by the
Colorado Department of Health in Pueblo.
Figure 1 shows the location of the new point source. I have labeled this point source
003. This is consistent with the statement in the New Elk draft permit and with the
previous treatment plant.
Appendix !contains the Sewage Treatment Plant specifications.
If you have any questions or require further information please call.
DMS/tl
cc: Mike Kolin
Steve Magnuson
Mike Long
STincerely, 7
~~ L
David M.
