Enclosed is a copy of the inspection report for your records. <br />During the inspection, the following items were noted and need to be brought to your attention: <br />No deficiencies and no problems were noted during the inspection. <br />2. Sunnyside Gold anticipates the final closing of the American Tunnel in late 2002 or early <br />2003. Sunnyside Gold plans to place the third (last) of three plugs to seal the American <br />Tunnel. After the last plug is placed, Sunnyside Gold anticipates that mine drainage <br />from the American Tunnel will cease. <br />3. The Sunnyside Gold Consent Decree is currently under review for modification andlor <br />amendment. Upon completion of the amendment, Sunnyside Gotd cuttentfy anticipates <br />transferring the American Tunnel Discharge Permit and ownership of the wastewater <br />treatment facility ("WWTF°) to Gold King Mines, Inc. (Silverton, Colorado). Sunnyside <br />Gold stilt needs to adequately satisfy the requirements of their Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology Recamation Permit. Sunnyside Gold anticipates that reclamation <br />activities will be complete by Tate 2003 or 2004. <br />4. The hydraulic loading on the treatment facilities during the time of inspection was approx. <br />280 gpm (of mine drainage) plus approx. 1200 gpm (of Cement Creek stream flow) for a <br />total hydraulic loading of approx. 1480 gpm or 2.1 MGD (million gallons per day). The <br />treatment process consists of; pH adjustment with hydrated lime addition, flocculent <br />addition, flow through a series of 4 settling ponds, with discharge into Cement Creek <br />which flows into the Animas River. <br />
