These wells were installed as part of a
_ _ _ __groltndsvatermomtoring-network-for-the-i3~S: Department of Energy's-(DOEj-West~piay --
Field investigation. That investigation has been completed. The wells were removed in 2002
because the investigation did not need them anymore. The DOE does not require that these
wells be replaced.
Their removal only addresses completion of the DOE requirements for the West Spray Field
chazacterization/investigation. The DOE's actions aze not intended to absolve Lakewood
Brick and Tile from requirements imposed under Lakewood Brick and Tile's State of
Colorado mining permit granted by Colorado's Division of Minerals and Geology.
Your letter contained a map showing ground water wells along with their location and status
in the vicinity of the Lakewood Brick and Tile operations. Your map shows well number
SF0189 still in place. DOE also removed that well in 2002.
If you have any questions, please contact John Stover at (303) 966-9735.
Sincerely,
Q
seph A.
