TMI's first quarter 2005 DMRs were received by the Division, on April 27, 2006. The
reports cover the time period from Januazy 1, 2006 through Mazch 31, 2006. Timely submittal of these
reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii)
Ten outfalls discharged during first quarter 2006. Outfalls 001, 002, and 020 dischazged throughout the
quarter. Outfalls 005, 011, 013, 014, 015, 017, and 021 dischazged in response to spring snowmelt in
March. One precipitation event, on February 28, 2006, measured 0.46 inches. This precipitation event
occurred during a time period of warm daytime temperatures, greater than 40°F, on top of still frozen
ground conditions. Effluent limitations were exceeded for TSS and Total Iron for some of the outfalls.
These exceedances were reported to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
(CDPH&E). Alternate limitation standazds were requested by TMI from the CDPH&E, for exceedences at
outfalls 001, 002, 005, OI 1, 014, 017 and 021 for precipitation and snowmelt conditions. WET tests were
conducted for outfalls 020 and 021. No exceedences were reported for outfall 020.
TMI reported that sediment in the ponds do not exceed the 60% sediment level in any of the ponds. TMI
provided precipitation and temperature records with the DMR forms to document weather conditions on the
site.
Thank you for the timely submittal of these reports.
Protection Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/DMR's/2006/1st Q.doc
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
