The responses appear to answer and clarify all of the questions and concerns
detailed in my letter to you, dated March 9, 2001. The application and its exhibits, plus the adequacy responses are
adequate for approval. 1 will _contact our Denver office of this decision, and they will notify you formally of the
approval under separate cover
1 also calculated the estimated reclamation costs for this operation, the figures for which are enclosed following this
letter. The assumptions and basis for the volumes, distances, grades and acreages are noted on the task sheets. To
begin the calculations, I verified the numbers provided by Mr. Conger th E~Itibits E, F and L. I am satisfied that his
figures and choices of equipment were reasonable, so I used them in my calculations also. You will see some
higher task costs in my estimate, most of which can probably be attributed to our recently updated equipment rental
rates and labor costs. The packet of reclamation tasks begins with a summary showing the direct and indirect costs,
followed by the individual task sheets, then the equipment production sheets.
The total estimated bond amount for this phased operation is $51.615. You should contact Ms. Suzi Ericksen at our
Denver office for the correct bond forms or for any other bond-related question. (Far any question about something
shown on any of these calculation sheets, please contact me.)
If you have questions or comments, I may be reached at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del Rio,
Room 12~, Durango, CO 81301; tel 970/247-5 l93 or fae 970/247-5104. Thank you for your cooperation during
this application review period, and for the well-prepared application materials.
Sincerely, /~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc.
