During
the late spring/early summer uF 1991, Trapper will begin construction of a single sediment pond located in
the Wut Pycau drainage. The pond will provide scdimcnt control for mining and topsoil removal aaivitics
commencing in 1991 in the West Pycau drainage area. As proposed, the West Pyeau discharge pond
(NPDES) should not require wet sampling as no pit-generated water will be discharged into the draittagc
system.
The new discharge point, 013, is located immediately south of our permit boundary in West Pyeatt drainage.
The proposed pond location is in the SW 12 of NE I/4, Section 26, T6N, R91W. The attached map
"Drainage Divides of the Mine Plan Area and Location of Current Surface Water Sites" (M30A) shows the
location of the proposal discharge point and all other NPDES points at Trapper Mine. The design capacity
for the West Pyeatt pond (Sedimot 11 software - IO year, 24 hour event) is L30 million gallons with a 10 year,
24 hour equivalent volume (worst case) of 0.69 million gallons. The discharge from this site is the Yampa
River.
We request the discharge location become active uppon completion of scdimcnt pond construction. Trapper
has submitted a technical revision (TRSI) to CMLRD, with appropriate hydrologic information, for their
approval. We will notify you when construction commences, of construction completion, and of any
proposed discharge into this drainage.
Please contact me if you require additional information or have any questions. ThanFs for your assistance iu
our current permit re-awhori~ation.
Sincerely,
~ U
ii~„~a~s, ~r~
William Agnew
Sr. Environmental Engineer
WA/jb
jCDOH~FEB13]
Enclosure
(w/o maps)
].M.
