Outfall 001A (62 FCT) flowed each week of the period. No permit limitation exceedences occurred during the period,
with the exception of Wet testng, discussed below.
A Quarterly Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) test was conducted for Outfall 001W in May 2003. This site passed for P.
Promelas, but was acutely toxic to C. Dubia. Two subsequent episodes of accelerated testing in June indicated continued
toxicity. PTI testing was initiated in late June 2003. Periodic updates on the status of 001 W testing was sent in writing to Mr.
Chris Gates. Laboratory results of the PTI test strongly indicated that acute toxicity is the result of total dissolved solids
caused by calcium sulfate. Copies of the WET Test Report Forms are included with this submittal. In early July, 2003,
Twentymile Coal activated an aerator unit at the pond above this outfall in an effort to enhance future W ET test results.
Please contact me directly at (970) 870-2750 far any further questions or additional information.
Twentymile Ccal Company
~5 . ~'. lY~/a~i-...-~
Brian A.
