Located az Weld County Road 25 and
201/2.
I am writing in concern of the proposed gravel-mining project on the Heit property. I strongly oppose the
intrusion and damages that this project would impose.
Ow family has an agricultural investment that is supplemented by the sub irrigation that is provided to our
pastures. The intrusion of another gravel mining plant would only damage the water table in our area In the
past years we have suffered so much from this drought and the hay prices that we could not afford to keep
ow business if ow pastures were to suffer like they have in the last few years.
Ow domestic wens in this area are shallow and are permitted to water live stock and smatl amounts of
acreage. These wells would suffer from the intemrption of water flow by the constnrdion of reservoir and
berms by the gravel pit.
We are suffering from an influx of gravel pits in ow area right now and I don't understand the need to do
away with ow agricultural lifestyles.
1'he truck traffic that this pit would generate is more than ow county road can manage. They are proposing
156 trucks per day and won't commit to saying they won't run 24 hours when deemed necessary. The Weld
County Gravel pits and two commercial pits all within one mile of each other surround us. All of these
trucks have to use the on coming lane of traffic to make any turns. Ow school bus route also runs along this
road and I atn concerned for the safety of ow children.
The water rights on the Heit farts would be changed from agricultural use to industrial use and would not
be changed back. I think thaz enough water has been taken from the farming communities and that the state
should consider not changing the water rights and let the drought plagued farmers keep the water.
Lupton Meadows subdivision is also.a host to an abundance of wildlife which I'm sure would only suffer
along with us from the dust, noise, odor (asphalt), late night lighting set ups and the traffic I hope you can
see a small part of the life changing affect this mine would have on ow area.
Thank you for yow time, Laurn Coyle.
