Lochhead
Executive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Director
The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) has completed
review of the 1995 Annual River Relocation Survey for the New Elk
Mine.
Comparison of 1995 data to 1994 survey results reveals possible
downcutting within the channel itself ranging from .03 feet to 1.0
feet. This would fall within expected changes due to natural
erosion processes. River bank measurements show very slight
changes, likely due to normal survey error. No unusual or un-
natural changes were noted. Overall, this section of river shows
no un-desirable changes due to relocation.
Thank you for your diligent efforts to adhere to your approved
monitoring program.
