Friday, February 16, 1996
James C. Stevens
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resource
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
q'cn
~~•sro FF9 76 /I ~~~
~o,MnP ~yy6
~d~6
a
GNO°9
.{'
Dear Mr. Stevens:
yl ~D
Thank you for taking time to meet with Mr. Faliskie and myself yesterday. To summarize Pj~
some of the points which we discussed, Greystone staff will be surveying the pit and well
locations using an arbitrary bench mark established on site rather than a USGS bench Y~0
mark. Secondly, the geophysical logs will be replaced by an enhanced method of well ~K
logging so that lithologic information of individual wells may be correlated. Lastly, the CGS
analytical testing parameters to be used include; Table 1, (less asbestos) and Table 2 ,o
Secondary Drinking Water Standard as identified in the Colorado Department of Health ~~Ly
"The Basic Standards for Ground Water" 3.11.0 March 2, 1995.
]n place of the organic compounds listed in "The Basic Standards for Ground Water",
Greystone will utilize EPA methods 624, 625, 608 and SW-846, 8150. All of the analytes
from Tables 1 and 2, plus organic compounds, are attached and include the method
reporting limits. As discussed during our conversation, the total coliform analysis has a
six hour holding time. Given the particular location of the site, it is quite likely that the
holding time for this test will be exceeded. Should this become a test of particular
significance, steps to over come the holding time difficulty will be addressed.
Greystone appreciates the assistance of the Division of Minerals and Geology with this
project. Should your require any additional information, please don't hesitate to contact
me at 850-0930.
Sincerely,
Greys tone
J frey Spinzig
Managing Director,
Site Assessment Group
CC: Robert Vasquez, Costilla County
5990 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. Suite 250 Englewood, CO 80111
(303) 850-0930 Fax (303) 721-9298
