Therefore,
two (2) Whole Effluent Toxicity Tests were conducted this quarter, one for MB-1(002A)
and the other for MB-2R (004A). The reports are included with the 002W and 004W
DMRs.
Also included is the burden of proof documentation of the greater than 10-year, 24-hour
event that occurred February 21, 1996. The equivalent runoff/storm event was actually
greater than a 25-yeaz, 24-hour storm. The event necessitated dischazge through the
principal spillway of Dischazge Point 004 (Sediment Pond MB-2R) and Discharge Point
005 (Sediment Pond MB-3). Therefore, Mountain Coal Company is requesting relief from
total suspended solids (TSS), total iron, and settleable solids limitations. As requ'ved by
the CPDS Terms and Conditions, the report is attached to the Dischazge Point 004 ,
Discharge Monitoring Report (DMA).
