STATE OF COLORADO RICHARD D. LA?AM. Govcrn or
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Harris D. Sherman. Ezec•~tive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
723 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Stree[
Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. 1303) 892-3567
M E M O R A N D U M
T0: Mined Land Reclamation Board
FROM: Mined Land Reclamation Staff - Maggie Koperski
DATE: June 23, 1977
RE: ALL QUILLEN APPLICATIONS
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
This is just a brief summary sheet to help you keep track of the several
Quillen applications scheduled to be heard. Quillen has six pits in toto,
and has come in under the compliance plan. Quillen field applications on
two of the pits in January, 1975. The applications were somewhat inadequate
and were never brought before the Board for consideration. Last fall, I
began working with the operator toward bringing the applications up to 1976
standards. The operator subsequently requested that the time period for
Board consideration be extended in order to avoid having the Board deny the
applications on grounds of inadequacy. Since then, the operator has been
working up applications on all pits he has worked since 1973. Ne "filed"
5 applications on May 17, 1977, including a new submittal on one of the
previously filed pits. He also plans to resubmit a new application on the
other previously filed pit in the very near future. The six pits are outlined
below. Please note that the two asterisked (*) pits are the previously filed
ones.
PIT: *CraiA Pit; File 4175-1; less than 10 acres; sand and gravel.
LOCATION: Moffat County; 1 mile SE of Craig.
STATUS: Active pit mined several years prior to 7/1/73; partially reclaimed;
filed 1/8/75.
NOTES: The operator originally applied for 55 acres but has not (since 7/73)
and will not mine more than 10 - thus the new application (not yet
submitted) will be a Limited Impact.
BOND: $2500 will be submitted by July 1, 1977.
PIT: Fedinec Pit; File 1177-57; 5 acres; rock quarry.
LOCATION: Moffat County; 5 miles SW of Craig.
STATUS: Active pit; unreclaimed; "filed" 5/17/77.
NOTES: The operator has requested that this application be continued
until the July 21, 1977 Board meeting in order to allow him time
to address the various inadequacies.
BOND: $2500 will be submitted by July 1, 1977.
PIT: Davidson Pit; File 1177-58; 4 acres; sand and gravel.
LOCATION: Moffat County; 2 miles E. of Craig.
STATUS: Active pit; unreclaimed; "filed" 5/17/77.
NOTES: No particular problems with this pit.
BOND: $2500.
