The 4vildlife and Soil Conservation Service's comments.
must admit that it was my error that kept these exhibits out
of the original applications. I failed to include them in
the application, although they were prepared and were on my
des'r, for inclusion. I apologize for my carelessness.
I}~}7g.,w,i.11 not be close to the Costilla River.~]~No excavation
11 be done w1'th-fn 506- eef t-~E e aver Channel) There is
virtuaIly_no way the river will be able 'tb'-break into the pit.
Ground water even during the"Spring will not rise to the level
of the pit floor. Due to the permeability of the material in
the bottom of the pit, surface drainage will not accumulate
in the pit excavation.
3. Overburden will be stockpiled adjacent to topsoil stockpiles
and will be placed on the areas to be reclaimed prior to
stockpile replacement. The amount of overburden stockpiled
will be dependent on the materials to be produced. Aggregate
products for use on County roads require a certain of material
with plasticity index that can only be obtained by inclusion
of the overburden during crushing.
4. Also enclosed is a more legible copy of the proposed mine plan.
It would appear that we cannot fulfill the publication requirements
for this permit by the March Hoard meeting. Please postpone consideration
by the Board until the April meeting.
Sincerely,
Jo T. Ungefug
eer
